The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo began in 1932 to promote agriculture with a fun, family-friendly experience that educates and entertains. Showcasing their proud western heritage, this Houston rodeo raises funds for Texas youths and education each year, with over $500 million donated to date. Livestock Show

The Livestock Show has grown into one of the largest events of its kind. With over 34,000 entries of livestock and horses, this part of the Houston rodeo allows Texas youths to showcase their skills and earn prizes in competitions such as the Calf Scramble, the Horse Show, agricultural mechanics, agricultural science, and much, much more. Students can also participate in speaking competitions, robotics competitions, and poster contests where they show off their research on a related subject. One lucky Deer Park or Galena Park student will become the Houston champion - an award that showcases their commitment to their studies and their dedication to their proud heritage.

The Houston rodeo is one of the most anticipated events of the year, featuring the Super Series and the Super Shootout: North America's Champions competitions. On average over 300 adult contestants participate in these events over 19 days to win the grand prize.

Super Series: The Super Series is a 19-day tournament that crowns a grand champion in bareback riding, bull riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping, and women's barrel racing. The winner of each competition walks away with $50,000, including previous round winnings. Serious skill and serious cash is on display in this competition, and it's not something South Houston residents will want to miss out on.

Super Shootout: With $250,000 in winnings on the table, the Super Shootout is an invitation only event that draws the best competitors from all over the United States. This one-day event tests each contestant's ability in the five traditional rodeo categories, and is one of the most anticipated events of the year. A must-see for Galena Park residents, the Super Shootout is sure to inspire and awe audiences.

The Super Shootout and Super Series aren't the only thing available at the Houston rodeo, however. Pasadena residents can enjoy activities like a BBQ competition, trail rides, parades, and much more! This 19-day event, taking place from March 3rd to March 22nd 2020, is packed with events, shopping, and food for all ages.
